Independently Licensed in Kentucky and Indiana

Exposure Response and Ritual Prevention Therapy (ERP)

ERP is the gold standard treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and involves learning to dismiss intrusive thoughts and control compulsive behavior.
I have seven years experience utilizing ERP and have successfully treated lesser-known manifestations of OCD such as: POCD, Harm Thoughts, Taboo Thoughts, Scrupulosity, and Sexual Orientation OCD.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques combine very well with ERP to help maintain the gains made in treatment. ACT, as described in its name, is about accepting the challenges that are faced and committing to maintain what is learned in treatment.

Collaborative Therapy to Meet Your Needs

I have been trained to meet prospective clients where they are at and tailor treatment protocols so that client goals, needs, and expectations are acknowledged and incorporated into treatment, as much as possible, while staying true to the treatment modality.

Accessibility Consulting

I utilize a motorized wheelchair for mobility, and have experience navigating the world. As such, others have found my insights helpful for making their spaces more accessible for individuals with physical disabilities.

Meet your Prospective Therapist

Hi!  I’m Amanda!

In their own words: A statement from a previous client

Since I was younger I've always struggled with OCD, and never really knew or understood what it was. Once I became a young adult, at the age of 21 I had to find a change. I was very blessed to find Amanda Velez, this woman changed my life forever.

The Office
(Not in Scranton)

At this time, I use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform to maximize accessibility and availability. This allows me to reach people in Kentuckiana that may not be able to travel to the city. Further, as I use a motorized wheelchair, it allows me to be able to model one variation of accessibility within a professional space while also leveraging technology to increase access to mental health services.

Pricing? I believe everyone should be able to access the care they need. As such, I offer a sliding scale based on financial need. This is a conversation that I would love to have in person.

A One Amanda Operation! This is a single-provider practice which allows for lower overhead thus reducing the cost of services across the board. Because this is a single-therapist practice, a waitlist is available if I am unable to provide services immediately, or I would be happy to refer you on to a trusted clinician based on client need.

I currently am accepting new clients!
